- You genuinely don't know what you need yet and want a reasonable, tested baseline to start from
- Warranty simplicity -- one box, one warranty, no thinking about which component came from where
The Uganda-specific reality
Because most PC parts in Uganda are imported individually rather than as pre-packaged systems, custom builds here are often not meaningfully slower to get than prebuilt options -- and they're frequently cheaper for the same real-world performance, since you're not paying for a fixed bundle that includes parts you don't need.
Our honest recommendation
If you can describe what you'll actually use the PC for -- even loosely ("mostly gaming," "architecture software," "office work plus some editing") -- a custom build almost always gets you better value in Uganda. Go prebuilt only if speed of purchase matters more to you than optimising every shilling.
Either way, insist on this
Whichever route you choose, insist on: genuine tested components, a real warranty (1 year, not "as-is"), and the ability to see it running before you pay. Those three things matter more than the prebuilt-vs-custom decision itself.
